First night in Vietnam

After leaving home to drive to the airport at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at 11:20 p.m. Monday night.  Lucked out with a empty row on my 13 hour flight from Chicago and was able to stretch out and sleep.  Left Tokyo ahead of the North Korean missile launch it turns out....

Smooth hotel shuttle pickup and I was at the Ibis Saigon Aiport within minutes.  Went up to the rooftop bar with my free drink voucher and gazed over the city enjoying a nice breeze on the hot humid might. Chatted with one of the bartenders who talked about her quiet hometown to the west of this busy city on the Makong River.  She showed me pictures of her town on her iPad.  She also told me about how lovely Hue and Hanoi are and gave me advice on two dishes I must try in Hue.  We rolled our eyes over the drunk obnoxious American the other bartender was having to deal with. She asked me about visit here and my daughter.  She wished me good travels.
